Understanding Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism occurs when the thyroid gland is unable to produce sufficient thyroid hormones, which are essential for regulating metabolism in the body.

Diagnosis

Hypothyroidism is typically diagnosed through blood tests that measure hormone levels:

  • High TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone)
  • Low T4 (Thyroxine) and T3 (Triiodothyronine)

Common issues? No problem.

Most patients suffer from the following:

  • Fatigue
  • Weight gain
  • Cold intolerance
  • Dry skin and hair
  • Constipation
  • Depression
  • Muscle weakness
  • Elevated cholesterol levels

  1. Gluten: Some individuals ,particularly those with Hashimoto's, may as they can contribute to inflammation and autoimmune reactions that may affect thyroid function.
  2. Added Sugar: High intake of added sugars can disrupt blood sugar levels and contribute to inflammation, which may worsen symptoms like fatigue and weight gain.
  3. Dairy Products:Dairy contains proteins that can be difficult to digest for some individuals, leading to gastrointestinal issues and potential inflammation.
