It’s All About The Flow
Hair loss, erectile dysfunction, aches and pains, brain fog, I could go on, but I’ll just get to the point. All these issues and many more have at least one thing in common. Poor blood flow, or poor oxygen distribution. How would you know? All these conditions at least have an element of blood flow to them and if your blood pressure is higher than it should be then that’s a definitive confirmation if you need one. Plenty of medications designed to treat these conditions happen to increase blood flow, either by design or by accident. However, you really can help yourself here with natural interventions. I’ll just give you a few to try out.
Beetroot or beetroot juice
Beetroot is naturally high in nitric oxide (NO) that is a natural vasodilator. That’s why endurance athletes use it because it increases oxygen distribution so you can go harder for longer………and it’s why I use it to keep my blood pressure in check. Try grated beetroot and apple salad or drink a glass of beetroot juice a day. Don’t like beetroot juice, then add a good splash of apple juice or fresh lemon to dilute the earthy flavour. Having a chilled-out Sunday with friends then try a beetroot Bloody Mary so you can be both clean and naughty at the same time.
Get Spicy With Cayenne Pepper
This excellent spice contains high levels of capsaicin which is a vasodilator as it promotes the release of NO. Get inventive with it. You can add a pinch to your morning black coffee, it works as a treat in hot chocolate (more about chocolate in a moment). In fact, you could add a pinch of cayenne to your Bloody Mary for a super charged cocktail.
Dark Chocolate
The flavonoids in dark chocolate have been found to produce……. NO. You should be getting the gist of the conversation now. Nitric Oxide is your friend. I’ve only listed three sources but there are multiple ways to promote it and to help yourself with a range of issues, not least, hair loss and erectile dysfunction.
Funny enough that as I was writing this, I came to realise that all the natural ingredients to improve blood flow go together very well. I’ve had a delicious brownie given to me before made with dark chocolate, grated beetroot, and cayenne pepper. It’s at this point that I also realise I should start a company making a healthy cocktail, or mocktail mixer.
If anyone raises the issue of me promoting the use of alcohol. I’m not. I’m simply a realist that knows what goes on in life. I’m off to make a beetroot Bloody Mary!
