Understanding On-Call Coverage: How the Service Works at Valeo Health

Have you ever woken up at 2 AM with a fever that won't break? Or perhaps your child developed a worrying rash over the weekend? We've all been there – facing medical concerns when traditional doctors’ offices are closed though the ER (emergency room) services are available but not the specialist doctor.

This situation caught all of us in that uncomfortable space between "this needs attention" and "is this really emergency room worthy?"

That's exactly why we created the Doctor on Call service at Valeo Health. But we understand that many of our patients aren't entirely sure how on-call coverage works, when to use it, or what to expect.

Let’s take a closer look at how our Doctor on Call service works—so you know exactly how to get the care you need, right when you need it.

What Exactly Is "Doctor on Call" Coverage?

At its core, our 24/7 doctor service connects you with qualified medical professionals, even outside regular office hours. It’s our way of making sure you always have a trusted healthcare lifeline whenever you need it.

Unlike traditional ER visits that require travel, waiting rooms, and often significant expense—but with our on-call service you can easily and directly speak with our physician via phone call from the comfort of your home.

Valeo Health physician plays a crucial role in your healthcare by:

1. Gaining access to your medical records with your permission

2. Understanding your health history

3. Providing personalized care tailored to your specific needs

However, when serious health concerns arise, our physicians recommend the best specialist for your specific needs.

For example, if they diagnose a skin condition, they connect you with a top dermatologist. If your child’s fever persists, they refer you to a leading pediatrician.

When Can You Use the Service?

Our on-call coverage service is available:

● Evenings after regular office hours

● Weekends and holidays

● Early mornings before the clinic opens

The service is designed for situations that can't wait until regular office hours but don't necessarily warrant an emergency room visit.

Some common scenarios include:

● Sudden onset of illness with concerning symptoms

● Unexpected reactions to medications

● Worsening of chronic condition symptoms

● Advice on whether a symptom requires immediate in-person care

● Guidance on managing symptoms until you can see your regular doctor

In short — our on-call doctor services are available for 24/7 and we ensure to offer the best solution to you!

How Does the Process Work?

Using our Doctor on Call service is straightforward:

1. Make the call: Dial our dedicated +97148369592 (listed on your Valeo Health patient      card and our website).

2. Initial screening: A trained healthcare professional will answer and ask you some basic questions about your concern. This helps determine the urgency of your situation.

3. Doctor consultation: The on-call physician will call you back, typically within 30 minutes. For urgent matters, this happens much faster—just give us a way!

4. Assessment and plan: The doctor will discuss your symptoms,  review your history, and develop a care plan that might include:

○ Home care instructions and suggest to get the basic blood test in Dubai

○ Recommendation for over-the-counter remedies

○ Prescription medications (sent electronically to your pharmacy)

○ Advice to seek in-person care, either at urgent care or the emergency room

○ Scheduling a follow-up with your regular provider

5. Documentation: The on-call doctor documents everything in your electronic health record, ensuring continuity of care with your regular provider.

What Makes Valeo's On-Call Service Different?

We've designed our service with several important features that set it apart:

1. Connected Care

Unlike stand-alone telemedicine services, our on-call doctors have access to your complete medical record. This means they know your allergies, current medications, chronic conditions, and recent visits – all crucial information for making safe, informed decisions about your care.

And you can also review your patient file at our Valeo Health app or track it via email…We make sure to offer the best services to you!

2. Direct Communication

When you call Valeo after hours, you're not reaching a large call center with rotating doctors who don't know you. You're connecting with physicians who work within our practice and understand the Valeo approach to patient care.

3. Follow-Through

Our on-call service isn't just about addressing immediate concerns. The doctor will ensure proper follow-up, whether that means scheduling a next-day appointment with your regular provider or arranging for necessary blood tests in Dubai, like CBC blood tests, STD tests, Food Allergy tests, and more!

4. Prescription Management

If your situation requires medication, our on-call physicians can electronically prescribe most medications to your preferred pharmacy. For controlled substances that cannot legally be prescribed without an in-person visit, the doctor will help develop an alternative plan to manage your symptoms until you can be seen.

With Valeo Health’s on-call coverage, you receive top-quality care with prompt medical assistance whenever you need it. Our services include:

● Access to healthcare from anywhere

● Instant professional medical advice

● Personalized support tailored to your needs

● Rapid response for urgent concerns

● Seamless continuity of care for your well-being

FAQs About Doctor on Call

1. Will I talk to my regular doctor?

While we can't guarantee your regular provider will be on call when you need assistance, all our on-call physicians have access to your records and can coordinate with your primary doctor—if this is what you want.

2. Is there an additional cost for using the service?

At Valeo Health, Doctor on Call services are available for the cost AED 160 only. For more details, you can visit: Valeo Health

1. Can the on-call doctor order tests?

Yes, the physician can order necessary tests such as lab work or imaging. However, these must be performed during regular hours unless deemed urgent by the doctor. At Valeo Health, we may also prescribe basic at-home blood tests in Dubai when appropriate.

2. What if the doctor determines I need  emergency care?

Your health is our priority. If the on-call physician believes your condition requires immediate in-person attention, they'll direct you to the appropriate level of care and can even help alert the emergency department of your arrival.

When To Use Doctor on Call vs. Emergency Services

While our on-call doctor service is comprehensive, there are situations that warrant calling 911 or going directly to the emergency room, e.g:

● Chest pain or difficulty breathing

● Severe abdominal pain

● Signs of stroke (facial drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulties)

● Major injuries or uncontrolled bleeding

● Loss of consciousness

● Severe allergic reactions

In these situations, please seek emergency care immediately, instead of calling us at +97148369592.

Real Patient Experiences

Here’s a real-life experience to help you understand when Valeo Health can be the right choice for you.

Maria, a Valeo Health member for three years, shares:

"When my son developed a high fever and rash at midnight, I was preparing to take him to the ER. The on-call doctor reviewed his symptoms and recent exposures, recognized it as a common viral rash, and guided us on how to manage it at home. By morning, his fever had gone down, and we avoided an unnecessary and expensive ER visit."
